I had such great interactions, with everyone, the front desk folks, the vet tech, and the vet! I felt heard and educated and they took such good care of my kitty and helped me feel really certain I was taking good care of all my pets. They gave my nervous cat treats to help him calm down, and were very thorough while still patient and gentle with the little guy. A+, I will absolutely be taking all my babies here.
(They even gave me a little gift bag as a new customer! Can you believe?)

I recently brought my dog, Apollo, in for a visit due to concerns about a possible bronchitis infection and a torn ligament. From the moment we arrived, we received exceptional care. The team saw us very quickly and took every one of our concerns seriously. I was particularly impressed by the amount of detailed notes they took during the first visit, which showed how much they truly care about their patients. Throughout the entire process, they kept us updated and made sure both my partner and I were informed every step of the way.

I highly recommend this place to anyone seeking compassionate and thorough care for their pets. Thank you for making a stressful situation much easier to handle!

I've been taking my dog here for a few years, but I wanted to leave a review because recently the staff here has really gone above and beyond for my pup and I. I brought her in because she had an accident in the house, and I knew something was wrong, and they found a gallbladder mucocele! Her gallbladder was close to rupturing, and they were able to get her into surgery within the week. They were great at keeping me updated on the situation and all her tests, calling me as soon as they had any news and calling to make sure my dog was doing okay after the surgery. They literally saved my dogs life. Words will never be enough for how beyond grateful I am. The staff here took SUCH good care of us, I really feel like my dog is a little celebrity when I take her there. I've always been happy and recommended this vet before, but now I know for 100% fact that I wouldn't take any of my animals anywhere else. I will say they're a LITTLE more expensive than your average vet, but for the quality of care you get, I would happily pay over and over and over. And they do really try to work with you on pricing too.

Long story short, this is the best vet you could ever take your fur babies to. I love all of them for all the hard work they've put in this past month to take care of us, and I'll never be able to thank them enough. If you're not going here, you're crazy.

Thank you so much Firehouse staff!!!

This is my 3rd pet, little Mochi, our kitten, the newest addition to our family. I have never had any issues, all the staff members from the front desk, vet techs and to Dr. Bonnet, has always been a great friendly experience for all my current and past visits. Everyone is so helpful and they give a lot of love to my furkids as if it was their member of the family. I couldn’t ask for a better Veterinary to take my furkids to! I would refer anyone looking to take their family pets to! This is the place to be! Thank you to everyone at Firehouse Westlake location!

I genuinely love Firehouse! I have two cats, and both have been taken here and treated with the absolute highest of care and consideration. Every single staff member I have come across is not only knowledgeable, but very empathetic and caring - making you feel like family - rather than a patient or a “number” in my experience.

Dr. Rivas truly works with me and my fur babies needs and listens intently. He has so much knowledge, and has always provided various routes/options of treatment for me to choose what would work best for my current situation, without me ever feeling pressured/judged. I sooo appreciate you Dr. Rivas, and all of your genuine kindness and feedback! Please continue the great work 🙂

I’m so grateful to have found this place, and truly recommend it to anyone with animals!

I'd give 10 stars if I could! I've been taking my girl to Firehouse since I adopted her 3 years ago and have had nothing but amazing experiences. The staff is all so smart and good with her that she loves going to the vet and visiting her friends. Nobody else I'd trust with my pup!

We brought our cat in to see Lana Honning; I question if she has the skills needed to practice Veterinary medicine at all!

The cat wasn’t eating and had labored breathing. They ran tests, as they should. She came back stating he was diabetic and needed insulin, which was “very expensive”. As an alternative, you should euthanize now. Right now. I’ll wait…. (Pressure, pressure)

Took him to another vet, as this didn’t make sense, and the Vet didn’t feel qualified. It turns out, our cat was dehydrated, and had a UTI - easily treatable with fluids and antibiotics, and has since made a fill recovery; no insulin needed.

We confronted Lana about this when she called us, and she made it about her! “Maybe I wasn’t feeling right?”, she said.

Seriously, take your pet anywhere else; this place should not be in business.

*Update: The clinic’s response to this review is an effort to discredit; they wrote the exact same thing on another site review I left.*

My girlfriend and her cat were the unfortunate victims here, and Lana called my girlfriend to make excuses on why she pushed to euthanize a cat with a UTI. This review is no mistake.

This clinic FAILED my cat. I cannot recommend AGAINST this clinic highly enough. I would give them zero stars if I could.

We went here for about 5 years - we brought both our cat and dog here and for a while we thought the place was great. The staff is very nice and friendly, we saw a few of the vets over the years and they were all friendly and they seemed like they knew what they were doing. Boy were we wrong.

Our cat started throwing up back in 2018, and when we moved to Austin in 2019 and started taking her to Firehouse they diagnosed her with IBD and started giving her Prednisolone, a steroid. Two doctors over the course of those 5 years kept prescribing her that drug, and even upped the dosage, while not once ever telling us that there was a major potential side effect of DIABETES. Well, what do you know but our cat developed diabetes. It wasn't until a third vet that we saw there saw some of her lab results and bloodwork and questioned the treatment of the first two doctors (who no longer work there) and ordered more bloodwork and saw that she was pre-diabetic. When I found this out I was obviously furious. Not once in the three years was it ever mentioned to me that diabetes was a possible side effect of Prednisolone. If I had known this there's no chance in hell I would have let my cat stay on that drug for that long! This is the most insane case of negligence and incompetence I have ever seen in my entire life.

I spoke with the medical director of the facility who tried to claim that there's no way to know that the prednisolone caused the diabetes. Sure. But that's also one hell of a coincidence. We have also since stopped the prednisolone and since stopping the medication we have been able to pull her back from the pre-diabetic stage and she is no longer pre-diabetic. So, again, you tell me if the Prednisolone caused her to be pre-diabetic...

We have since switched to another clinic who actually took the time to try and figure out what is wrong with our cat and they have realized that she unfortunately has a lot of issues that went undiagnosed by the incompetent doctors at Firehouse. She is now a pretty sick little baby and we have a lot of work ahead of us to try and get her healthy again.

I cannot begin to explain the unbelievable anger I have at this facility. The doctors were completely incompetent and negligent throughout this entire ordeal. If this wasn't such a he said/she said type of situation I would absolutely be bringing a medical malpractice suit against this facility for the unbelievably awful way they treated my baby. No one should bring their sick animals here because their doctors will not help them at all.
